Project Overview:
This documentary short explores the James Simon Gallery as both an architectural gateway and a cultural extension of Berlin’s Museum Island. The film guides viewers through its carefully designed functional spaces, from the elevated entrance and minimalist concrete lobby to the mezzanine, cloakroom, museum shop, auditorium, and ticketing areas—seamlessly connecting visitors to the Neues Museum and Pergamon Museum.
Moving beyond the interior, the documentary captures how the gallery expands the public realm with grand staircases and open colonnades, offering a redefined experience of Museum Island. Through these transitions, the space not only enhances accessibility but also enriches the urban atmosphere, framing views of the Spree River, inviting moments of reflection, and embracing the lively sounds of Berlin’s street musicians.
